Citizens for Local Accountability was founded in 2009 by a group of long term residents in Lake Oswego. We observed increasing concern over the absence of accountability in local government within our community and a growing intolerance for dissenting views by elected officials.
Despite a defined public process it appeared that the concerns of long term residents were not being incorporated into the decision making process by local public officials. We believe that embracing the public process through core values allows for better decision making which is consistent with the values of the community.
Our sole purpose is in promoting "Good Governance" and supporting those candidates and elected officials that embrace this concept not only in their statements but also in their actions.
We believe in the following:
Fiscal Responsibility + Core Services + Property Rights = Good Governance
